Save the Hackney Road Rabbit
This amazing artwork by Belgian artist ROA is in threat of being removed. A Hackney Council statement reads:"...whilst it is not the council's position to make a judgment call on whether graffiti is art or not, our task is to keep Hackney's streets clean."I'm always amused when people talk about cleaning up the streets, I immediately think of Dirty Harry or Robocop, but jokes aside, the Rabbit is a thing of beauty in a not entirely attractive part of the world, something picked up on in this Guardian Article.There's a petition up and running to save the Rabbit, and art lovers are being encouraged to use the #savetherabbit Twitter hash tag. Hopefully common sense will prevail.
