We've recently added a Snow Reports section to the Tignes Spirit/Val Spirit Rentals websites. This new area of the site allows a variety of contributers to post updates on the snow conditions. The backend of the system is fully responsive and built in Laravel, it downsamples any images before uploading with the aim being that the contributors will be able to write and upload reports whilst out on the slopes. You can check out the snow report for Tignes here, the conditions seem amazing this winter!
We’ve just launched a new website for Semantic Evolution, a company who specialise in extracting and structuring data from unstructured documents. Conveying the flexibility and scope of their system was a difficult proposition which we solved by using an interactive diagram showing the data flow from unstructured to structured. Getting this to work well on mobile was challenging, but the end result was well worth the effort.
We’ve recently built a new home for hundreds of stunning images by photographer Lee Mawdsley. Lee wanted a carousel element on the homepage, which is usually a bit of a UX no-no. To mitigate this the images are lazy-loaded and though there's a predefined order, it starts in a random place each time. As a result of this, every time I load the site up, I do find myself spending way too long way watching them animate through! When you have really great content maybe they’re not such a bad idea after all. If you want to take a look, you can check the site out here.
We've built up several sets of html5 banners for ad agency Scorch for their client Twinings. The banners are based on Twinings' amazing paper-craft stop motion ads from 2016 that are well worth a watch. Though slightly less ambitious the banners are pretty cool nonetheless, heres a quick peak.
We've just built and launched a (very!) small responsive website for Brand in Hand. The site design was by Mosley Design, and you can view the website here.
We've recently built and launched a site for beauty/lifestyle brand Vanderohe. The new website showcases their upcoming range of natural and organic skincare products. The site design was done in conjunction with Mosley Design. I particularly like the ingredients page, its amazing to see the care and attention to detail that's gone into the product.
We've just launched a very cool microbe interactive as part of ico design's rebuild of the microbiologyonline.org.uk website. The interactive is mostly built using the html5 canvas and the brilliant createJS, which never ceases to amaze in terms of what you can achieve with it. Click here to explore the secret world of microbes, both good and bad.
We’ve just launched a new responsive website for West Country Horse Transport, a company who provide horsebox hire to move your four-legged friend the length and breadth of the country. They're lovely people to work with and you can check out the new site here.
Just in time for the winter season, the Tignes Spirit Rentals site has been given a fresh new look, and is now built responsively, so you can book your snowboarding kit from half way up the mountain!
The rebuild followed extensive wireframing and UX work to find the best way of exploring and booking the equipment on desktop and touchscreen devices.
TSR carry a lot of high end equipment that you typically wouldn't be able to rent, so if you're planning a holiday in Tignes they're well worth checking out.
Grab your towel and get ready for adventure! We've recoded our classic Hitchhikers game so it now works on mobile.... erm sort of!
Originally built eons ago for ico design (as part of a job promoting a Hitchhikers exhibition) this new version is coded from the ground up in create.js. The particular problem converting this game from flash is that it consists of 42 mini games, creating a large asset overhead, particularly if you need them big enough to look good on desktop.
Some of the 42 games have had to be culled to keep the file size down, theres 2 different versions, the Full version (fast phone and questions about the book), and the Lite version (some animation stripped out and no questions) useful if you have a mobile that's particularly slow.
We'll post some more on this another time so consider it a work in progress till then!
A small but perfectly formed website for ex England cricketer Ed Giddins, showcasing his talents as an After Dinner Speaker, Event Host and Auctioneer. Hoppermagic were responsible for the design and build of the website, we're particularly pleased with the media queries which mean its as useful on a mobile as it is on a laptop.
We've just redesigned the website for Conde Nast Traveller's Fashion & Beauty Director Fiona Lintott. The brief was to keep things as simple as possible and present the work in a way that's easy to view and quick to navigate. The site has a custom built CMS using Kohana which makes updating it really simple.
